Everybody asks us if we install or recommend gutter guards or screens.
The answer is NOOOOO!
Why?
Because they don't really work. Instead we recommend installing downspout filters.
Downspout filters are a patented product that is inserted into the gutter. It plugs the hole that leads from the gutter into the downspout. However, the plug just stops debris like leafs, pinestraw, etc from going down the downspout. At the same time it allows water to pass the debris and drain into the downspout.
This process prevents your downspouts from clogging up in between gutter cleaning appointments. For example, many homes should have their gutters cleaned 3 - 4 times a year in order to keep the water flowing and to prevent downspout clogs.
However, most home owners or businesses either forget to do it or just don't want to pay the money (other reasons exist to but these are the most common). As a result the debris gets in the gutters, is pushed by rain water to the downspout and clogs them.
That means you could clean your gutter and 3 weeks later have another clog. FRUSTRATING...RIGHT?
With downspout filters it prevents that debris from clogging your downspouts in between cleanings.
